Project Detail

The Old Elm & Pothole Creek Project, located 10 km south of the town of Magrath, Alberta, consists of privately owned farmland leased in 2009. Meteorological testing of the site began in early 2010 with very encouraging wind resource measurements to date. The project is being developed by the Alberta Renewable Power Partnership, a joint venture between Boralex and AWEC.

Phase 1 of the project is slated for 60MW. It is expected the project may support up to a 300 MW wind park to be built once suitable transmission infrastructure is completed in the area. The Old Elm project is at Gate 3 in the AESO approval process and is waiting to finalize a transmission connection.
